Ananda Mahoney

Ananda graduated as a naturopath in 1996 and has gone on to add further qualifications to better support her clinical expertise including post-graduate qualifications in Nutrition and a Masters in Pain Management. In addition to clinical practice, Ananda is a lecturer, teaching and mentoring aspiring naturopaths and nutritionists to become skilled practitioners. She is experienced in all areas of general naturopathic practice with a broad focus on health, education and wellbeing.

Taking a patient-centred and evidence-informed approach Ananda’s treatment approach is highly personalised; she meets patients where they are currently at and nurtures, supports and guides patients to achieve lasting positive change. One of Ananda’s favourite moments when working with a patient is to get to the stage in their health journey when she can say, ‘touch base if you need to see me’, knowing they have the tools and strategies to maintain their own health and wellbeing.

Over the last 6 years, Ananda has been working extensively with clients experiencing persistent pain. Her interest in pain management stemmed from the observation that patients were not getting good results using standard naturopathic and medical approaches, as well as an innate curiosity about what underpinned their pain and how to work more effectively with it. Ananda incorporates aspects of pain education, nutrition, naturopathy, lifestyle and self-care, working in with patient’s existing persistent pain health care team.

More recently Ananda has brought together her passion for education and her clinical focus on pain management to bring PainWISE, a pain education program for patients in chronic pain. This program doesn’t just focus on pain medication, instead teaches the neuroscience of pain, which empowers patients to understand and manage their pain more effectively.

Although Ananda has a focus on persistent pain, her first area of special interest was in skin health, working with patients distressed by conditions such as psoriasis, acne, rosacea and eczema. She provides a clear path forward, reducing unnecessary medication and provides strategies for clear skin naturally. Her goal is to help patients be the best versions of themselves and love the skin they are in.

Ananda can help with a wide range of health conditions including autoimmune conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis), stress & fatigue management, digestive complaints, hormonal conditions & fertility, functional issues (migraines, fibromyalgia, irritable bladder), musculoskeletal problems and neuropathies.

Ananda frequently works with NDIS clients to support nutritional needs.
